Carnival in Rethymno also means memories. It's a "journey" coming from the past, revitalized in the present, and confidently, with vision and optimism, building its future.

In this spirit, the Rethymnian Carnival, following the three-day 34th Treasure Hunt organized by the "Lazy Dogs" group on Friday 1, Saturday 2, and Sunday 3 March 2024, continues on Tuesday, 5 March 2024, with Old Greek Serenades.

The Old Town will be filled with romantic melodies, with Akis Plaitis giving the signal with his accordion!

The Municipal Choir of Rethymno, the choir of students and teachers from the Rethymno Music School, accompanied by musicians and vocal ensembles of our city, as well as a host of carnival-goers, will revive the tradition of serenading in the streets of the Old Town.

They will start at 7 pm from the Sand Gate, at Agnostos Stratiotis Square, and will end at the Great Gate through the main streets of the historic center.

This year, the romantic fans of Old Greek Serenades will have the opportunity to read the lyrics of the songs through their mobile phones, posted on the website rethymnocarnival.gr, as they stroll through the alleys of the Old Town!

The event is organized by musician Akis Plaitis, and the choir director is the maestro of the Municipal Choir of Rethymno, Ms. Isidora Chalkiadaki.

A musical extravaganza is set to spread from one end of Rethymno to the other, making us once again all together... One Group! The unique group of the Rethymnian Carnival!
